Wincanton designs, implements and operates creative solutions for complex supply chains - right across Europe. Customers include many
of the biggest global names in sectors as diverse as pharmaceuticals, automotive, FMCG, petrochemicals, general merchandise and supermarkets. In the UK
13% of the market and 19,500 people make Wincanton the second largest logistics company. They are also market leaders in a number of key areas including
grocery distribution, automated warehousing and petrochemical distribution.
Peter Lord, the Wincanton Site Services Manager, looks after a large distribution centre operated on behalf of a major supermarket. He
initially called Access Ability in to provide access control for the 1000 users on the site through two barriers and two turnstiles and to provide CCTV
surveillance for the new car park.
While carrying out the work engineers saw that there were a number of separate CCTV systems across the site and with minimal changes
they could all be integrated into a networked system. Better and clearer fields of view could also be obtained at minimal cost by repositioning/ replacing
a number of cameras. This would be beneficial in allowing a clear image from any camera to be viewed from either of the two security control points. Gone
would be the administration problems associated with multiplexers and VCR's.
This pro active suggestion resulted in a highly competitive value added package and was taken up enthusiastically by Peter Lord and by
the supermarkets head of security.
Peter commented that "Access Ability people are so helpful it is untrue. I am pleased to have this opportunity to pass on my experience to other companies."
